GOSNELLS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB

code of conduct

At Gosnells Junior Football Club, our primary goal is to provide every child with the opportunity to enjoy Australian Rules Football in a safe, supportive, and positive environment. We are committed to fostering a culture that values skill development, fair play, and the spirit of junior sport. As a member of our club — whether you're a player, coach, volunteer, official, umpire or spectator — your behaviour on and off the field reflects not only on you but also on our club, our community, and the game itself. By upholding this Code of Conduct, we can all contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment that supports the enjoyment and wellbeing of all participants. Failure to comply with this Code will result in disciplinary action.

This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals involved in our club and our game, including Players, Officials, Volunteers, Umpires, and Spectators.

Spirit of Junior Football

All participants must understand and uphold the principles of 'The Spirit of Junior Football'.

Fair Play

Always play by the rules and uphold the principles of fair play.

Accept both victory and defeat with grace and good sportsmanship.

Players and officials should shake hands with opponents, coaches, and umpires before and after each match.

Always consider the safety and wellbeing of all participants.

Show Respect

Spectators must refrain from coaching, instructing, or distracting players during a match.

Display respect for all participants, regardless of the match outcome.

Contribute to a positive and inclusive sporting environment that respects individual differences.

Support efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game.

Use appropriate language and behaviour — do not swear, sledge, criticise, or harass others.

Communicate through the correct channels in a positive, respectful, and constructive manner.

Stay in control of your emotions at all times. Avoid outbursts or behaviour that may harm others emotionally, mentally, or physically.

Supporting Umpires

Accept umpire and official decisions, even if you disagree.

Never abuse an umpire. Abuse includes language or behaviour intended to offend, intimidate, threaten, or harm.

Only authorised individuals may approach an umpire.

Do not publicly criticise umpires — raise concerns through your Team Manager or Club officials.

Respect the important and often challenging role that umpires play. Recognise they have varying levels of experience and always do their best.

Handling Disputes

If a dispute arises, avoid arguments, confrontations, or physical altercations.

Instead, address concerns respectfully through appropriate channels such as the Team Manager or Club Officials.

Anti-Discrimination and Inclusion

Treat all individuals fairly and with respect.

Reject all forms of discrimination, bullying, or harassment.

Report any inappropriate behaviour through the proper club channels.

Laws, Rules, Regulations, Policies and Bylaws
